75% of people will suffer this pain
According to the American Family Physician, three out of four people will suffer from back pain at some point in their life.
The most common injuries are caused by moving a piece of furniture, doing the garden or practicing sports.
Look at the main causes of back pain and what you can do in each case.
1) Twists, jerks and spasms
The most common cause of lower back pain is an injury to the muscle, due to a pull, or to the ligament, due to a sprain.
They can occur for different reasons, from rising inappropriately, to overweight or poor posture. A heavy bag can also cause it.
As you get older, the discs that “cushion” the strokes and movements begin to flatten and be less flexible.
In this way, the joints between the vertebrae begin to press against each other, which produces a lot of pain and stiffness.
3) Herniated disc
Normal use and wear can cause one of the disks of the spine to be injured, resulting in a hernia.
If the sciatic nerve is affected, you could suffer from “sciatica”, an intense pain in the lower back, buttocks and legs.
The first treatment for a herniated disc is a short period of rest with analgesics, followed by physiotherapy. Most people who follow these treatments recover.

6) “Horsetail” syndrome

In addition to pain, severe symptoms such as altered reflexes, decreased strength and lack of sensation in some parts of the body may appear.
7) Exaggerated activity
One of the main triggers of lower back pain is over activity.
According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, when performing activities that exaggerate physical exertion, the muscles and ligaments can stretch too much or be injured.
8) Load weight for a long time
Carrying bags from the supermarket or lifting a baby for a long time can also cause back pain.
The key is to make the effort with the muscles of the abdomen and legs, and not with the back.
